How to Make a Public Commitment

Declare a goal to your group as a public commitment, so everyone can hold you to it and cheer you on.

A public commitment is a goal you declare to your whole group. Saying it out loud - and giving it a deadline - makes you far more likely to follow through, and it gives your group a clear way to support you.

Steps

  1. Open your group's dashboard.
  2. Find the Public Commitments section and expand it.
  3. Select + Make a Public Commitment.
  4. Fill in the form:
    • What specifically will you do? - your commitment, e.g. "Run a half marathon by June 2026".
    • How will you measure success? - what success looks like and how you'll track it.
    • Target Date - a deadline (recommended; it helps your group support you at the right moments).
  5. Select Commit Publicly to share it with your group.

Your commitment appears in the group's Overview tab under Active Commitments, where members can react and comment to keep you accountable.

TIP

Be specific and give yourself a deadline. "Run a half marathon by June" is easier for your group to rally around than "get fitter".

See your group's other commitments in the Overview and gallery.
