How to Create a Habit

Set up a yes/no, numeric, or timer habit in GroupHabits, with an optional target and grace period.

GroupHabits·1 min read

GroupHabits supports three kinds of habits so you can track almost anything:

  • Yes/No - did you do it or not (e.g. "Meditate").
  • Numeric - count towards a target (e.g. "10,000 steps").
  • Timer - track time spent (e.g. "30 minutes reading").

Steps

  1. Open the Create a Habit page.
  2. Choose a habit type - Yes/No, Numeric, or Timer.
  3. Give your habit a clear, specific name.
  4. For Numeric and Timer habits, set a target and a unit (for example, 8 and glasses).
  5. Optionally choose a grace period (1 day up to 1 week). A grace period lets you miss the occasional day without breaking your streak.
  6. Click Add to Queue. You can queue up to five habits at once.
  7. Review the habits in your queue, then save to create them.
TIP

Start small and be specific. A habit like "read 10 pages" is easier to keep than "read more", and consistency matters more than intensity.

Next, learn how to log a habit each day.
